Think the architect gets the credit here, the photographer is just the messenger...

Thank you so much for your opinion and stopping by... I think that grywolf2 summed up nicely what I would respond too if only being capable to do it in such a good way with my poor English...

I love the photo. But the Herman Hesse quote is outstanding. Thank you for sharing it. xx

"Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

You are very welcome, M. It resonates with my own feelings and experiences as well.

Excellent.

It certainly draws you in and makes a statement.

One can appreciate the architecture but the silhouette on the steps makes it worthy of a position on a museum's wall.

ExNameForUse replies on 2/26/2023 8:58 am:
Couldn't agree more, grywolf2.
Thank you very much for putting in words what I saw in this photography and had a need to share in hope someone would see and capture the same as well.

was the resting person on their way up or down when they sat for a bit? And what is the evidence supporting your opinion. Is it male or female or them?

ExNameForUse replies on 2/26/2023 9:14 am:
Like with any piece of art we see what we see... my vision doesn't have to be yours, and vice versa, So it can be both, way up, or way down, it is how you perceive it.

Up the Down Staircase.

It fits doesn't it? A book (1964) and movie (1967) by the same name.

That staircase might as well be Mount Everest. Same chance that I will climb it.

Hm interesting perspective...are we going up or down backwards or forwards or just round in circles?!
life is a arduous climb advance always never concede look back or go back for time marches on & being in the present is all that matters!

ExNameForUse replies on 2/26/2023 2:02 pm:
I thought it was an interesting photograph offering so many perspectives about the circle we are all in.. sometimes going up, sometimes down, sometimes fort, sometimes back... sometimes in need for some rest...

One thing I like about this post is that most of the comments have a common thread.

It looks like prison now when you said it, Brandy.
Sometimes we live like we are in prisons we build ourselves and from which we sometimes need to rest.

I used to shoot everything with my Minolta 35mm from 1973 till my photo shop could no longer get parts to repair it in 1994. I do not even remember the model number. It was a great camera. The above photo reminds me of something I saw at the Metropolitan in NYC.

jenny, I have had this photograph on my mind since the moment I saw it. I cannot get the image out of my head. So many things come to mind. It is not a photograph of anything. It is simply an impressionistic image captured by a camera. My first impression was that of a Fire House Training Tower. I have been reminded of so many more possibilities since then. The possibilities are endless.
