Ever since i have lived and worked on farms in Spain and Portugal, i am sort of, a bit, afraid of mosquitoes.
Or, at least very much aware of their being around.....

Especially the ones, that can give you dengue fever.....

The tiger mosquitoes.

I worked on a farm, and when the wind came from the wrong direction, that woman allways called her children in the casa.
So, one day, i aks her why do you do that?

She tells me about the tigermosquito and that you can get really very, very ill...

But, in the same sentence she told me, that we were not allowed to go inside, we should continue working in the garden....

I was flabbergasted...

Since some years, we have those mosquitoes here too, up north in Holland.
They love still waters, especially in car tires...

So, i have a lot of stagnant water in my garden, i use that to water the plants, when it is very hot,

I did put mosquito nets over it, and i kill every mosquito i see!
In my house.
I always give them a prayer, to go to a better life...

No mosquitoes in my casa!

I never heard of tiger mosquitoes ! We have mosquitoes here out in the swamps but I don't frequent that area.

rosa

I agree that avoiding mosquitos is wise! Not all carry disease but there bites are still unpleasant

There are at least 4 types of dengue fever.
When you've been sick of one, falling sick from another increases the chances your dengue will be of the hemorrhagic type.
